Why we love it

Big, modern Silvretta Arena linked across the border to Samnaun, season-opening concerts and an après scene that's famous across Europe.

Getting there

Innsbruck Airport is the closest, about 100 km and 1 hour 15 minutes by road. Zurich and Munich are around 2.5 to 3.5 hours away. By train, travel to Landeck-Zams and take the bus up the Paznaun valley to Ischgl, which takes about 45 minutes.

Who it's for

Ischgl is made for intermediates who love long, wide cruisers and modern lifts, with plenty of red runs high above the village. Advanced skiers will find good off-piste and ski routes around Piz Val Gronda. Beginners can learn on the nursery slopes at Idalp, but most come here for the skiing and the après.

Best time to go

Most of the skiing is above 2,000 m, so the snow is reliable from the start of the season in late November right through to the start of May. Come for the Top of the Mountain concerts that open and close the season, or in January and March for quieter slopes.
